Clickstart’s one-of-a-kind program combines conceptual knowledge of animal behavior with hands-on learning opportunities and in depth mentorship under experienced trainers. Our comprehensive coursework will include reading source materials and scientific journals, observing professional training sessions, hands-on workshops, and guided opportunities to train dogs and coach their people.

Course Materials:

We will explore texts including “Don’t Shoot the Dog”, “Excel-erated Learning”, “Effectiveness is not Enough” and many more. We will also assign podcast episodes, webinars, and field trips to ensure an immersive learning experience that caters to a variety of learning styles.

Hands-On Training:

Unlike many online programs, our Trainer Academy includes consistent in-person learning opportunities. Students will work one on one with dogs, coach real clients, and even teach their very own group class.

The total cost of this program is $6,500 if completed within 12 months. Each month of the program thereafter is $600.

We will be offering one BIPOC scholarship per year. These scholarships, in the amount of $2,000, aim to ensure our trainer community grows in diversity.

Clickstart’s Trainer Academy consists of 10 phases (with two optional bonus phases). With part time availability, we expect all coursework to be completed within 12 months.

Due to the hands-on aspects of the program, you must be willing to commute to the area for discussions, workshops and field trips.

After this program you will have the knowledge and skills to sit for the CCPDT or IAABC exams. You will also be more strongly considered for professional trainer positions, including those available with Clickstart.
